Menu Locations

Step 1:

Verify the name of the menu you want to change the position.

Step 2:

The way the menu is positioned on your web site uses modules. Select Module Manager from the Extension Options

Step 3:

Locate the module name that coorelates with your menu.  In this case, we are searching for Main Menu.  Notice the current position is user3 as displayed in the Position Column.  Click on the title Main Menu.

Step 4:

Change the positioning of the menu by selecting a new position from the drop down menu.  But how do you know what these positions represent?  That is explained in Step 5.

STEP 5:

HINT: www.yourdomain.com?tp=1

To determine what "Positions" are designated throughout your site, add the string ?tp=1 to your domain name.  For example, www.yourdomain.com?tp=1

This will show you your screen "sliced" according to the positions of your web site.  Since the displayed screen is a little faint, I have added highlight boxes and cpations for easier viewing.

Step 6:

The access level determine who will see the menu.  The 2 main choices you will initially use are Public and Registered.

Public means everyone will see it.  Registered means that only those who have registered with your web site and are logged in will have access to this menu.

Step 7:

Here is a cool little feature that allows you to apply this menu (also applies to all modeules, not just those related to menus) to specific areas of the web site.

A Menu Assignment for All means this will appear on every page in your site.

A Menu Assignment for None basically means it will not appear on any page.  This is the equivalent to unpublishing the module.

a Menu Assignment by Select Menu Item(s) from the List, allows you to apply this meny to specific pages within your site.  For example, you can assign a section specific menu that will appear only in the specific section.  Such is the case with the CMS Tutorials menu om these pages.  They only appear in the CMS Tutorial Section.  This was accomplished by selected this option and chosing the pages within this section.  Add multiple pages by holding down the Ctrl key while you click each additional page from the Menu Selection area as shown below.

Click Save.
