Published vs. Non-Published Articles

Publishing or unpublishing an article (turning a page on or off) is very easy.  There are 2 ways to accomplish this task.  1 article at a time ot multiple articles all at one.

Step 1:

To turn a page on or off, click on the icons under the published column.  A check mark represents that the page is on, or published.  A white X in a red circle represents that the page is off, or unpublished.

Step 2:

Simply click the icon to change the status, from on to off, or from off to on.  In this screen shot, you can see that after we click the check mark as shown in Step 1, that it unpublished the page as shown in this screen shot with a red circle X.

Continue this process to turn individual pages on or off.

Turning multiple pages on or off

Step 1:

Select each check box for the page(s) that you want to publish, or unpublish depending on your needs.  In this case, since all of the pages (articles) are published as shown in the "Published" column, we will be turning them off.

Step 2:

Click the Publish or Unplish button.  In this case, we would have clicked the Unpublished button.

The results can be seen in the "Published" column as shown by the red circle X's.  These pages will not appear on your site now.

ALERT: Remember that if you unpublish a page, make sure you check the menu navigation and unpublish menu navigation links correlating to your articles.  If you leave a link published and unpublish a page (article), your viewers will get a "page cannot be found link."

Publish vs. Unpublish for the Front Page

This same concept works for the front page of your web site.  Simply click on the check mark or red circle X to change the status.

You can see that we have published the page "Rights for each Level" to be presented on the home page.  This article will now appear on the home page.

ALERT: Be careful with having too many pages published to the front page as large amounts of data in article formats can be discouraging to the viewer.  Also, if the article is very long, remember that the entire article will appear.  It is suggested that you have only the first paragraph of each article appear on the front page.  So how do you do that?  Click here to learn how to use the Read More button.
